What is an RSS Feed?

RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.

 Why use an RSS Feed?

RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site's email newsletter. The number of sites offering RSS feeds is growing rapidly.

Want to get the latest news from the Guru about site updates?

You will need a reader to use the RSS Feed option. Searching for RSS Readers is a good idea. After you find a few readers, do some research to determine if the reader is what meets your needs.

1. Install a reader on the device you desire to use to collect the feed.

2. Follow the Rss Reader's directions for setting up a feed. Any troubles? Remember you can use the forum's on this site and another user may know how to help getting your reader working.

3. Enjoy the feed and get updates of this site!

What reader am I using?

Newsblur - Rss Reader

I chose this reader when I did a search for Open Source RSS Readers. It is one of the results I received. I chose it due to the fact that it allowed for both web based usage and Android. Since I love android. It was a fit for me. I checked out the difference of the free version and the paid version. I didn't notice a big difference between free and paid. Once I logged in and added the feed to the reader, It all worked. I ran a test off the forums. It does appear a little needy as far as asking for you to upgrade the product but so far I can deal with the prompting. Has not started to annoy me as of yet.

Important: I retrieved the RSS Feed by using my mouse over the RSS Feed icon in the forum. I right clicked over the RSS Feed Icon and chose the option to "copy link" . I then added the link into the reader. Below is the link I added and everything seems to work.

It appears that it is basically the forum topic's web address with a ?format=feed added. Not too crazy. If you have any other Reader's that would be good to review or add to this page, message me in the forums and I will check the reader out and put my thoughts on this page.
