RockBlocks XBox 360 Game - Position: Lead Programmer Released July 27, 2010 by Psyche Ward
The story. First, I must say that I had a great time working on this project. I remember collaborating with a friend one night who happens to be the owner of Psyche Ward. We got into one of the biggest laughing sessions of my life. This led to us teaming up and starting to make plans for creating an Xbox game. The problem was, neither of us had any idea how to make a video game. I was just a hobbyist programmer.
I had worked on a web site for my brother-in-law called Storm Chase Live Dot Com, so I told my friend that I could program. He came over to my house and looked at my code.... and RockBlocks was born.
It was a puzzle game. We wanted to create a tetris style game and play the game with a Rock Band style gaming guitar. We got through the entire Xbox Indie Game creation and review system in about 3 months time, start to finish. Looking back at the game, I would have done a few things differently, but overall it was definitely a fun ride.
We were really not focused on selling a game or it being a big hit. We just wanted to say we made an Xbox game. Mission accomplished!
This experience is what led to my titles as an official Xbox Game Developer and Windows Developer. As holder of both titles, I am very proud to say that I support both Xbox and Windows.
One day in the future, I will release an Xbox One game. Hopefully, it will make me smile as much as RockBlocks. Although RockBlocks is gone, the memory lives on forever.
